Lyon & Healy celebrated 150 years of excellence and 125 years of harpmaking (the milestone closest to our heart) with its 150th Birthday Festival June 4-7, 2014. Our birthday cake is in the photo on the lower left! In the shape of a Lyon & Healy Style 23 Gold Harp, it took two weeks to make. The strings were made of fishing line and the “wires” candy-coated natural string. It was a display cake, so aside from the base, it was not meant for eating, even though it was all sugar. It was lifted up by four people onto its platform as the baker “spotted” it..
