About Lyon & Healy Hall
Located in a 75-year-old brick building in the new West Loop area of Chicago, Lyon & Healy Hall celebrated its opening concert with an Inaugural Concert Gala, April 22, 2005.
Founded in Chicago in 1864, Lyon & Healy has produced some of the world's most beautiful instruments using old world craftsmanship and 21st century innovation. Today dedicated solely to harpmaking, Lyon & Healy harps can be found in leading concert halls and conservatories. To serious harpists worldwide, Lyon & Healy represents the highest standards in harpmaking available today.
Continuing this tradition of excellence, Lyon & Healy Hall is destined to become one of the city's most distinctive venues for the enjoyment of music in an intimate setting, hosting a variety of concert series featuring solo recitals, chamber music performances and educational programs. It will soon become one of the country's premier performance venues for the enjoyment of harp music, from classical to pop and jazz.
Designed by Italian architect Marco Tanga, the 200-seat auditorium has incorporated many of the woods used traditionally in the making of Lyon & Healy's distinctive harps - Sitka Spruce, Hard Maple, among others. The expansive space offers excellent sightlines and a breathtaking view of downtown Chicago as the backdrop for the stage. The upholstered chairs are comfortable and have been handmade in Italy especially for the concert hall. Care has been taken to ensure the acoustic quality in the hall meets the highest standards.
