Elizabeth Hainen, Principal Harpist of The Philadelphia Orchestra since 1994, returns to Lyon & Healy Hall in a special solo performance. She has appeared as a concerto soloist and recitalist throughout the United States, Europe and Japan. Having graced the stages of Carnegie Hall, Chicago Symphony Hall and the J.F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, as well as the Marlboro Festival, Ms. Hainen has won international acclaim as one of today’s foremost harpists.

Internationally renowned harpist, María Luisa Rayan-Forero has performed to critical acclaim in the United States, Europe, Latin America, China and Japan. She has come to be recognized as one of today’s highly sought-after harpists as a recitalist, chamber musician, soloist with orchestra, teacher and arranger of music for the harp. Ms. Rayan-Forero returns to Lyon & Healy Hall in a solo recital.

World-raveling jazz harpists and Professor of Jazz Harp at the Royal Academy of Music, Park Stickney makes his Lyon & Healy Hall debut with his jazz trio, Stickney, Sickafoose and Smith, a collaboration with bassist Todd Sickafoose, described by the Los Angeles Weekly as “one of the most comprehensive musical minds of this coast,” and percussionist Ches Smith, recognized by Time Out New York magazine for his “excellent solo project.”
PROGRAM
Stickney, Sickafoose and Smith’s program will feature Mr. Stickney’s original compositions, jazz standards and reworkings of classical pieces in a jazz style. Final program will be announced from the stage.

Mayumi Miyata, sho
Associate Principal Harpist of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Mariko Anraku is hailed as a manifestation of grace and elegance and has won attention as one of the world’s outstanding harpists. She is joined in recital by Japanese sho player Mayumi Miyata, recognized as one of the first musicians to introduce the instrument worldwide through compositions by Cage, Huber and Artaud. Together they will make their Lyon & Healy Hall debut.

Harpist Emily Mitchell has earned critical acclaim as a marvelous harpist who captivates her audiences with playing of the utmost delicacy, beauty and subtlety. She has been featured worldwide as a concerto soloist, recitalist and chamber musician. Ms. Mitchell is joined in recital by flutist and composer Gary Schocker. A faculty member of New York University, Mr. Schocker has won numerous competitions including the Young Concert Artists, the National Flute Association and the New York Flute Club. He is in high demand as both a performer and composer. Together they will make their Lyon & Healy Hall debuts.

Principal Harpist of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Jana Bouskova previously won the USA International Harp Competition and was awarded second prize in the Israel Harp Contest. As one of the Czech Republic’s ten most distinguished women, she is a much sought-after harpist and regular guest of the world’s foremost concert stages. Ms. Bouskova makes her Lyon & Healy Hall debut in a solo recital.
